You can always count on Lanvin for shiny, party perfect dresses.
But if Alber Elbaz would have it his way, such glitter and shimmer would stay beyond the year-end bashes. In fact, the always glamorous, fun-loving Lanvin girl would wear them for her gala dances any time of the year.
Never one to shy away from the dazzle and razzle, Lanvin's shimmery Spring Summer 2014 collection joins the metallic trend we've seen already at Dries Van Noten, Christine Phung and Cedric Charlier this Paris Fashion Week.
This season, Elbaz has cloaked the Lanvin woman in fluid, liquid-like metallics. Colours were reminiscent of unpolished vintage jewellery that made these shades shiny yet never tacky. Covered in that glossy metallic sheen, even the baggy sportswear-inspired jumpsuits looked nothing short of glamorous.
Dresses are cut in looser, more comfortable shapes that still look sensual, thanks to the flowy, liquid-like fabric. Come Spring 2014, the Lanvin woman would wear a boxy "dream" slogan top, tucked into skirts for her luxe take on casual Fridays while thick waist belts accentuate her hour-glass shape for dressier soirees at night.
Of course, Elbaz didn't skimp on the feminine touches either. Pleating on dresses and skirts accentuated the lustre of the metallic hues, appearing like the pretty foil folds of candy wrappers. Big bows are placed lower than before, just above thigh-high slits and at the hips.
The bag of choice this season was clutched at the top nonchalantly, like a quick grab bag of all the Lanvin woman could care to carry with her.
The colour palette may seem a little darker than usual for Spring Summer, but the party-loving, look-at-me Lanvin girl wouldn't care; why should she, when she can flaunt her shiny, eye-catching new dresses and still be the fashion talk of the night.
The Lanvin Spring Summer 2014 show took place on September 26, 2013 at Paris Fashion Week. Follow Lanvin on Facebook and Twitter for more updates from the brand.
