Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford each won awards in their respective categories at two distinct award evenings.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts’ first hotel in Asia won the coveted Luxury City Hotel award at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2010 held in Hua Hin, Thailand.

The World Luxury Hotel Awards, positioned as the pinnacle of achievement for five-star luxury hotels worldwide, set the benchmark for world-class facilities and unsurpassed service standards.

It recognises hotels that have gone the extra mile and transcended from being "good hotels" to becoming "exceptional hotels".

Swissôtel The Stamford was crowned Asia's Leading City Hotel and Singapore's Leading Business Hotel at the prestigious World Travel Awards held in Delhi, India.

The World Travel Awards is widely regarded as the ultimate accolade for the travel and hospitality industry.

Founded in 1993, the World Travel Awards has been described by the Wall Street Journal as the 'Oscars' of the travel and tourism industry, and the foremost recognition and acknowledgement of excellence in products and services worldwide.

Mr Ian Wilson, General Manager of Fairmont Singapore and Regional Vice President - Asia, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, was present at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2010 to receive the Luxury City Hotel award.

Fairmont Singapore was also recently voted as one of the world’s Top 20 Best Overseas Business Hotels by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller magazine.

It is notably the only Singapore-based hotel that made the list.

With these wins, Singapore’s towering icon of world-class hospitality has more cause for celebration as it attains several international awards in a year that commemorates the 30th anniversary of Swissotel Hotels & Resorts.

The hotel recently garnered two other prestigious international awards of excellence - Asia Pacific’s “Best Business Hotel” in the BT-MICE Awards Category of the 21st TTG Travel Awards 2010, its second consecutive win, as well as the Luxury Hotel & Conference Centre (Global Winner) award and Overall Winner in the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2010.
