W Hotel Singapore has officially opened and showed a party side that might be hard to beat.

The all-day affair, held on Oct 20, 2012, saw a ribbon-cutting and lion dance ceremony to officiate the opening with guest-of-honour Minister for Trade and Industy, Mr Lim Hng Kiang.

Invited guests were treated to their first view of the hotel with samplings from the restaurant, Skirt, and bar, Woo Bar.

Future Fashion Now highlights of Ong Shunmugam and Dzojchen collections premiered in The Great Room.

Celebrations got bigger as the night went on with performances by Avan lava, a band from the US, and a DJ set by W Hotel Music Director Michaelangelo L'Acqua.

The favourites of the evening were Japanese dance crew Wrecking Orchestra, who performed in the dark wearing specially-designed glow suits that lit up the room, and DJ Mark Ronson who took to the decks.

Some 1,300 bottles of champagne were consumed together with a free-flow of wine and beer.

As for the guests, this party seemed to have it all.

From models - androgynous model Andrej Pejic, and America's Next Top Model winner Sophie Sumner, - to celebrities, - Zoe Tay, Patricia Mok, Kit Chan, Mae and Choy, - and personalities, - Anita Kapoor, Sharanjit Leyl, and Alicia Pan, - the glamour VIP premiere was certainly the party to be at.

Oct 18 and 19 saw the DJ Lab series, by Burn Studios, where new talent get to showcase their stuff around the globe.

W Hotel, know for its dedication to music, fashion, and design, certainly brought it all together over the preview days and set the standard here for what a W party is all about.
