Plumes de Chanel jewellery collection revisits the feather
by Tan Zhiling, herworldPLUS|24 June 2013

The feather has been ingrained in the jewellery designs of Chanel Haute Joaillerie, or Fine Jewellery, since 1910, inspired by the elaborate feathered hats modelled by Mademoiselle Chanel.

In 2013, Chanel once again returns to the symbolic feather as a motif for a series of extravagant jewellery designs in its latest Plumes de Chanel jewellery collection. The 2013 Plumes de Chanel jewellery collection incorporates the splendour of diamonds or pink topaz set against white or yellow gold.

Each jewellery item features an elaborate feather motif where golden barbs are meticulously crafted to create the tousled effect. Polished gemstones encrust some of these barbs to add visual texture and glamour to the exquisite feather.

A highlight of the latest Plumes de Chanel jewellery collection is the Plumes collar necklace. The necklace, which is fashioned from white gold and set with diamonds, curves in a perfect silhouette to embrace a woman's neck and shoulders like a luxurious feather boa.
