E&Y art show features Singaporean artist
by The Business Times|30 June 2013

Singapore artist Ron Wong will be the featured artist for the latest Ernst & Young Asean Art Outreach programme. Ms Wong, who is trained in Shanghai, is known for her caricature paintings that express her thoughts on daily experiences and encounters and carry her signature wit and satire. She draws inspiration from her cultural experiences in three cities - Macau, where she was born and spent her early childhood; Singapore, where she did her secondary and tertiary education; and Shanghai, where she completed postgraduate studies in fine arts.

Now back in Singapore, Ms Wong's experience in and observation of Shanghai and Singapore form the conceptual framework for this exhibition titled "Homecoming", which will be her third solo exhibition but her first in Singapore. Born in 1983, Ms Wong spent her formative years in Singapore and graduated with a Diploma in Digital Media Design from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2003.

She went on to study art at the Shanghai University College of Fine Arts, graduating with a Master of Fine Art.

The 14th Ernst & Young Asean Art Outreach exhibition opened on Thursday and will run until Oct 16 at the Ernst & Young Gallery in its office at One Raffles Quay, North Tower, Level 18.

The programme was started in 2007 with the dual objectives of promoting the development of art in the region and contributing back to the community. One-fifth of the sale proceeds from the exhibitions are donated to three local charities: the Lions Befrienders Service Association (Singapore), the NCC Research Fund and Club Rainbow (Singapore). Viewing is only by appointment on phone .
