World's most expensive holiday sold to Chinese student
by Plush|15 July 2013

Singapore - When VeryFirstTo.com, an online site providing the 'most extravagant products and services', launched the 'World's Most Expensive Holiday' in March, Guardian reported that many people dismissed the product as a publicity stunt.

However, after a month of its launch, the London-based company got a call for their 1-million pound (S$2-million) luxury trip.

Not much information is known about the party except that he is an unnamed Chinese PhD student with an 'undisclosed background', said The Guardian.

The Telegraph also reported it has been confirmed that he has signed the agreement but will only begin his round-the-world adventure next year. He can embark on the trip after the completion of his academic commitments for 2014, said the British news media.

Meanwhile, the site has reportedly already received a second application for the exorbitant holiday.

In a report by The Guardian, VeryFirstTo.com revealed they are currently in talks with another interested party. He is said to be 'an Italian industrialist' on the verge of booking, said founder Mr Marcel Knobil.

If this second applicant takes up the holiday, he might actually be the first to embark on this exclusive holiday. According to Mr Knobil, they are finalising on the itinerary.

The holiday around the world boasts an intense itinerary of visiting 962 UNESCO world heritage sites within a 2-year time-frame.

The Telegraph said the trip includes overland travel, and the traveller will be flying in business class cabins or superior flights.

Accommodations will be reserved in only the top-notch hotels such as the Hotel George V in Paris, The Plaza in New York and The Ritz-Carlton in Moscow.

The holiday costs 990,000 pounds (S$1.9 million) for two people and the remaining 10,000 pounds (S$20,000) will be a cash donation to UNESCO.
