A 'Night Flight of Gargoyles', a surprise guest & F1 drivers
by Niki Bruce, herworldPLUS|23 September 2013

Singapore - For the 10th anniversary of Formula One VIP party Amber Lounge held at Temasek Walk, Singapore couture fashion designer Frederick Lee created a special collection of be-feathered and bejewelled gowns, his 'A Night Flight of Gargoyles' all-black collection.

With extreme feather collars, latex body suits or mesh all-in-ones, the models appeared to be characters from some exotic, vampiric theatre production. The all-black theme broken only by touches of glittering colour in the form of crystal embellishments and the finale dress of white and silver.

The concept of the collection was based on a singular vision, described by Frederick as: "She stood - romantic and desirable, brooding and beguiling, with swathes of dark fabric floating around her. With their pale complexions and dark clothing choices, embody gothic trend, once more fashion and art collide ..."

While fashion and art collided in Frederick Lee's collection; fast cars and fashion collided with the now signature runway walk of F1 drivers at the Amber Lounge fashion night. For 2013 the drivers were Davide Valsecchi from the Lotus F1 Team, Jerome d'Ambrosio also from the Lotus F1 Team, Oliver Turvey from the McLaren F1 Team, Rodolfo Gonzalez from the Marussia F1 Team and Alexander Rossi from the Caterham F1 Team.

And if that wasn't enough to get the crowd excited, two live performances followed; first up was John Martin from Swedish House Mafia, and then a surprise teaser performance from Taboo of The Black Eyed Peas - he was due to perform a full set on the second night of Amber Lounge. In a coup for Singapore fashion followers, Taboo wore a Depression tunic to perform (pictured above).
