According to a report in WWD on October 24, 2013, fashion designer Jil Sander is leaving her namesake label; again. This will be the third time that the German-born Sander has attempted to run her eponymous fashion brand.
After returning to the fold in 2012, Sander has worked on the men's and women's wear collections up to Spring Summer 2014. The next one, the Autumn Winter 2014 collection will apparently be designed "by the brand's in-house team" reports WWD.
Sander founded the label in Hamburg, Germany, in 1968, but sold 75 per cent of it to the Prada Group in 1999, upon which she stuck it out for a year and then left, reportedly acrimoniously. For a short time in 2003, Sander returned, but it didn't last.
The label itself has had a number of owners, Japanese company Onward Holdings is the current owner.
Chief executive of Jil Sander, Alessandro Cremonesi, said: "On behalf of the group I want to thank Jil Sander for her remarkable contribution to the brand over this period. Her outstanding design and creative leadership have been crucial in reinforcing the brand and positioning it to foster further prosperous growth".
