by Plush|14 October 2013

With offices in almost every major destination and thousands of suppliers worldwide, it was time Quintessentially celebrated its second year anniversary in Singapore on 22 May 2010.

The world's leading lifestyle group with a global concierge service collaborated with its esteemed partners to put together Singapore's most exclusive pop-up club, SPACE, at klapson, The Boutique Hotel to raise funds for charity.

The dual event was in support of HCA Hospice Care which is Singapore's largest home care provider providing medical, nursing and psychological support to patients living with terminally ill patients in their final days.

The invitation-only guerilla club offered a stunning view of the city's skyline and some of Singapore's finest DJs - DJs Adrian Wee, Amanda Ling, Andrew T, Angela Flame and DJ Ang Moh - kept the mood upbeat by spinning tunes throughout the night.

It was the perfect location for the expression of music and art. The elements were provided by several of Singapore's up-and-coming young talents.

Art pieces contibuted by artists and photographers such as Dawn Ng, Melisa Teo and Colin Wee decorated the venue and were also auctioned off to raise funds for HCA Hospice Care.

Additionally, a percentage of the proceeds from all of the bar and food sales were also donated to charity.

Contributing artists:

Annabel Ling trained in and graduated from Londom. Since her school days, she has worked as an artistic director in both London and Singapore. Drawing her influeneces from a synthesis of mix medium art and sculpture, her work has been publicized in the UK. CUrrently pursuing her interests as a preschool educator, the multi-faceted artist is also the creator and designer of 'Rebel Babble', a funky children's clothing label inspired by the rebellious streak in kids. Always drawn back to her first love in the arts, Annabel is finding balance as an artist and her mystical fusion of passions.

Colin Wee has managed to successfully traverse from being in front of the camera to behind it. To change mediums is a rare feat for anyone but this multi-hyphenate has done so almost effortlessly. Aside from having an illustrious modelling career, the talented photographer's portfolio consists of Harper's Bazaar, Arena, Style and Style Men, Cleo, Elle and L'officiel. Through a natural fit in the fashion world, Colin's interests also include architecture, travel, interior design and gastronomy.

Dawn Ng has acquired marvellous skills in everything art related at The Slade School of FIne Art, ACL and Georgetown University. Dawn has worked for BBH and Ogilvy and her time in advertising has made her a voracious curator and acyte dissector of pop culture. Awarded the first prize of an art competition and exhibition at Bartle Bogle Hegarty Gallery in New York City in 2007, Dawn launched four shows last year including her first solo collage exhibition entitled Singapore Cuts, comminsioned light installations at both The White Rabbit and Loof as well as a paper plane installation at Black Out. Coined the new art Tour De Force of the Singapore art scene, she was chosen to have her wrk curated for the Singapore Art Show 2009 at the SIngapore Art Museum.

Diana Chung is an up-and-coming local photographer with a flair for capturing the personal relationship that man shares with nature. In 2007, the art ingenue completed a series named Skies where she showcases the sky in its various states amidst a flurry of colours. Boasting a myriad of colours and textures, the collection is symbolic of one's personal perspective and representative of society's appetites, distractions and dread. Diana's future projects will continue in this vein and reflect her travel escapades.

Florence Notte takes great pleasure in her photography. Following many exhibitions in Paris, this "colorist photographer" now tracks down shapes, reflections and textures on the streets of Singapore, since her move to this part of the world in 2007. Recently granted the award for creativity by the French Federation of Photography for a series of pictures where paintings and photographs echo each other, Florence also works for a number of dufferent French publications that include Le Point, Zoom Magazine and La Gazette in Singapore.

Herman Salleh is a recent graduate with Honours in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of the Arts and one of Singapore's most promising young artists. His work is a dynamic observation of current popular culture and a youthful examination of society at large. Some of the exhibitions where his work has been displayed are : Without Borders at Sunjin Gallery, Baba-licious - A  Peranakan Festival 2009 at the Singapore Management University and ICON at Utterly Art Exhibition Space. His impressive accolades include The Lasalle College of the Arts Scholarship Award and The Della Butcher Award Certificate of Merit.

Melisa Teo is a Singaporean photographer based in New York City. Her unique images, which have been described as "photographs of the mind; personal shadows made public", recently earned her a place among SOny's Master Series  photographers. Prior to pursuing her interest in photography, Melisa was Executive Editor at Asia's leading publisher Editions Didier Millet. She was the driving force behind the company's list of acclaimed cookery, travel, lifestyle and photography books, and a key figure behind the creation of luxury travel guides The Chic Collection. Melisa now travels the world, from Myanmar to Mexico, workin gon her personal photography projects.

Rasha Eleyan currently lives and works in Singapore as an illustrator and painter. Having been trained in fine arts in both Jordan and Rome; and spending some time as an associate producer at Walt DIsney television, the artist is strongly influenced by the movements in pop art. Her current work, the Tea Break series, is a collection of acrylic paintings on paper which seem to contain dislocated elements that are united, yet isolated from their environment. The indeterminate location of the scene removes them into a place that is without space or time and is far from any defined historical or social relaity. This allows the elements to express a complete single experience in their dreamlike space.
