China's richest businessmen and their high-profile divorces

In the recent years, Chinese media has been splashed with high-profile splits between China's most successful businessmen and their wives.

Divorce, however, is no joke for these tycoons and their fortunes.

In just a court settlement, they could gain their freedom to re-marry but lose up to half their wealth or more. For their ex-wives, they are turned into a member of China's super rich overnight.

With the magnitude of their wealth, it is not surprising to know their divorces could even fluctuate the shares of the companies they own on the Chinese stock market.

The divorce was settled in June 2011. Above: Wang Wei's ex-wife Yang Lei. To receive this compensation, China.org reported that Yang had to give up her stake in Tudou.
She had a 38 per cent stake in the Chinese video sharing site. Her stake in the company had allegedly prevented Tudou from getting Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the US market for more than six months, said China.org. She is a popular TV personality at Shanghai TV.
Wang married Yang in August 2007. The marriage broke down due to rumours of Wang having an extra-marital affair with an American-Chinese dancer, according to China.org. Yang reportedly felt neglected by Wang. She was said to have complained that he cared more about the site Tudou than for her.
