Socialite Jamie Chua shows off 'Hermes house' online

Singapore - Socialite Jamie Chua has been giving her fans and followers a glimpse of her life on Instagram.

Once described as a 'fashion insider' by Singapore's Tatler magazine, Chua has currently over 2,000 photos featuring her expensive outfits, vacations and even intimate moments with her loved ones and friends.

The mother of two teenage kids also shows off her Hermes bag collection to her 80,000 plus followers by accessorising her outfits with a different Hermes bag in every shot. Her extensive collection is said to be comparable to that of Victoria Beckham, a known Birkin fan.

Her pictures on photo-sharing platform Instagram give netizens a taste of how a member of Singapore's high society lives and parties, and also shows her quirky side with pictures of her skateboarding and posing like a starfish.

Shin Min Daily News recently reported that an online search for the former Singapore Airlines stewardess would lead to several websites that reproduced photos of her 'divorced tai-tai' lifestyle, with her Hermes handbags taking the spotlight in most of them.

Thus, it is no surprise that Chua has been called the woman who owns "the most number of Hermes Birkin bags in the world", said Lianhe Wanbao in 2011. A Birkin bag costs between US$9,000 to US$150,000 (S$11,000 to S$190,000).

The fashionable high-flyer also once stated that her favourite handbag was the crocodile-skinned Hermes Kelly.

Chua, a former Singapore Airlines stewardess, was previously married to Indonesian businessman Nurdian Cuaca.

The couple were married for more than 15 years before they filed for divorce in February 2010 citing 'unreasonable behaviour'.

During her high-profile divorce, Chua made headlines when she asked for a $450,000 monthly maintenance sum from her ex-husband. The maintenance sum was said to be the largest ever recorded in a divorce case in Singapore.

To justify the $450,000 monthly maintenance amount, Chua had to show a breakdown of her monthly expenses. The expense sheet recorded stays at luxury hotels, shopping trips in Europe and blowing $20,000 on first-class air tickets, reported The Straits Times in 2011.

Personal expenses such as beauty treatments like manicures and visits to the hair salons can also came up to $3,000 or $4,000 every month.

Chua sought the amount based on the standards of living she enjoyed with her then-husband.

The divorce was settled amicably in November 2011, said The Straits Times, to confidential terms. The two Manolo Blahnik boutiques which she opened at Hilton Hotel and Marina Bay Sands were wound down during the divorce proceedings.
